America loves Blake Bortles.
The University of Central Florida quarterback, who surged up draft boards after an impressive junior season with the Knights, became Twitter’s favorite person Wednesday night while leading UCF to a 52-42 Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor.
Following the game, Bortles, who could go as high as the top five in the upcoming NFL draft, spoke about UCF’s gameplan against the Bears on SiriusXM College Sports Nation.
“We really started clicking early,” Bortles said. “We really kinda played the way we practiced. We were able to move the ball well, and we just had to stay away from self-inflicted penalties.”
Bortles also extended praise to UCF’s coaching staff for the offense’s preparedness.
“They played pretty much exactly the way we had prepared for two-and-a-half weeks,” Bortles said of the Baylor ‘D.’ “For the most part we were ready for everything they brought, and that speaks to the preparation of this team and these coaches.”
