Used as a role player for much of his career in the NFL, tight end Delanie Walker is experiencing a breakout season in his first year with the Tennessee Titans. After seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Walker has already more than doubled his previous high in catches with two games remaining.
Walker told John Hansen on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio Thursday afternoon that he’s pleased, but not content, with his breakout campaign.
I feel like it has been a good season for me. I wanted to be a No. 1 tight end and I think I answered everybody’s doubt if they thought that I couldn’t do it. I kind of proved that I can be that guy. I wish my numbers were a little bit more, but that just takes time. I feel like we are building here and I’m just really starting to learn the offense. I think going into next year it is going to be even better, so I’m happy with what I have done so far.
Week 16 is championship week for most fantasy football owners, and Walker has a clear message for anyone who is considering benching him in their big matchup:
If you don’t start me, you might be disappointed.
