Ron Mael, Toy Story Woody’s pull-string, and the classic Western movie threat say it best: “This town ain’t big enough for the both of us.”
That seemed to be the refrain beginning in early 2009, when a relatively unknown Lady Gaga was pitted against pop veteran Christina Aguilera. Rumors flew of a supposed feud, revolving around accusations of Aguilera copying Gaga’s look and sound, with their producers and associates doing most of the talking.
When she appeared on SiriusXM Hits 1 a few years back, Aguilera politely denied the squabble, saying, “Our music couldn’t be any more vastly different,” and, “It just sucks that, as women, we have to deal with that sort of comparison.”
The two finally felt the love in a duet during the finale of The Voice last night. Clad in matching metallic jumpsuits, their blonde locks complimenting each other to flaxen perfection, the princesses of pop utilized their powerhouse pipes to put all rumors to rest.
