SiriusXM commemorates the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination

Starting this week, SiriusXM is commemorating the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination with a series of special programming that pays homage to the late president with exclusive broadcasts featuring veteran journalists, interviews, memories and eye-witness accounts from this pivotal event in U.S. history. As an addition to the special programming throughout various channels, SiriusXM will launch a special weekend-long pop-up channel, JFK: 50 Years Later, pulling in exclusive programming from multiple channels – making it your one-stop shop for all things JFK.

Special programming includes:

JFK: 50 Years Later
Premiering 11/22 at 6 am ET through 11/25 at 6 am ET on Ch. 108

This special channel will run through the weekend, featuring a variety of programming that aired throughout the week across multiple SiriusXM channels. To mark the anniversary of Kennedy’s death, the channel will feature interviews from well-know public figures including Oliver Stone, Dan Rather, Chris Matthews, Sarah Palin and Dick Gregory. There will also be special broadcasts of two events from the Newseum in Washington, DC and a special feature from revered journalist Sid Davis – Inside Media: Covering the Kennedy Assassination -  as well as CNN’s Jake Tapper with Eyewitness to History, former Secret Service agent Clint Hill and Bob Schieffer.

SiriusXM hosts including Martha Stewart, Bob Edwards, Joe Madison, Dr. Laura, Cousin Brucie and Fran Tarkenton will share their personal reflections from fifty years ago–the moment they heard the news.

Martha Stewart on JFK’s assassination: “It was horribly shocking and horrible said.”

Cousin Brucie on JFK’s assassination: “I sat there for I don’t know how long.”

Madison (‘The Black Eagle’) will talk to Dan Rather about his personal, behind-the-scenes account of President Kennedy’s Dallas visit. They’ll discuss the sequence of events involving reporting Kennedy’s death and how he became the first press member to confirm it to CBS News – approximately 20 minutes before the official announcement from the White House.

The Wilkow Majority

On this special edition of The Wilkow Majority, Wilkow will share his JFK special interviews with guests including former Dallas deputy sheriff Gene Boone; eyewitness James Tague (whose proximity to the President’s motorcade was so close he was hit by bullet fragments); former WFAA radio reporter Pierce Allman and former Dallas Morning News reporter Hugh Aynesworth.
