Late last week, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon was suspended for the remainder of the season after violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy for the second time in 2013. His teammate Maurice Jones-Drew commented on the suspension this weekend on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.
“I was very shocked,” Jones-Drew said. “Justin had been doing a lot of good things, you know. He hadn’t been causing any trouble, he’s been on time everyday, working hard, and so when I did hear the news, I was a little disappointed.”
Jones-Drew also denounced some of the criticism directed at Blackmon from the media.
“It’s just sad to see some of the things people write about him, some of the things the media people say about him. It’s just bad,” Jones-Drew said. “He has something that he has to work on, like we all do. No one here is perfect, so we all have to work on something, and his thing is just kind of magnified a little bit because he plays in the NFL.”
