Mike Church: Constitutional system of checks and balances is kaput

October 23, 2013

James Madison’s system of checks and balances has been long dead, says SiriusXM Patriot’s Mike Church, who argued Tuesday that Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) newest proposed amendment, which would forbid government officials from holding themselves exempt from constitutional laws, “is not necessary because there is nothing in the federal constitution that would grant a member of Congress this exemption.”

“The abuse of power is not a Constitutional exercise” Church added, blaming its occurrence on the absence of a sufficient check on Congress. “The system that is supposed to prevent abuses from happening is kaput.”
