How unexpected was the ending to Week 5 of the NFL season? Only one SiriusXM host – Jay Thomas – correctly predicted the outcome of both the Chargers-Raiders Sunday night game and the Jets-Falcons Monday night game in SiriusXM’s Pigskin Pick’em.
Among all participating hosts, 10 people picked the Jets’ win over the Falcons, and just six had Oakland upsetting San Diego. Hosts finished with a combined 16-130 record in the week’s final two games, good for a whopping .110 winning percentage.
SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s Pete Pistone was one of the six hosts to correctly predict the Raiders’ win. That pick helped Pistone move to the top of the standings at 54-23 on the season.
OutQ’s Doria Biddle, the leader after Week 4, and SiriusXM NFL Radio’s Ross Tucker, the leader after Weeks 2 and 3, are each one game back of Pistone at 53-24. Dr. Roto and The Agenda, mainstays in the top five, are tied two games behind the leader.
The top five through Week 5:
- Pete Pistone (54-23)
- Doria Biddle (53-24)
- Ross Tucker (53-24)
- Dr. Roto (52-25)
- The Agenda (52-25)
Other notable SiriusXM hosts after Week 5:
Thanks in part to correctly guessing the two week-ending upsets, Thomas is now 48-29, six back of Pistone.

SiriusXM College Sports Nation’s Mark Packer and Stanley T from the Morning Mash Up each limped through Week 5. Packer went 5-9 and Stanley T went 6-10; both hosts are well back of the lead at 44-33.
Jon Hein, host of The Wrap Up Show on Howard 100, went 7-7, and is now 42-35 this year.
Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin picked just one game, but he made it count, nailing the Jets’ upset of the Falcons in Atlanta. Jose is 34-43 this year.
