John Madden, former NFLers analyze the Josh Freeman benching

Former first-round draft pick Josh Freeman will be seeing less playing time, as Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ coach Greg Schiano decided to bench the young quarterback. NFL legend John Madden discussed new starter Mike Glennon and the Tampa Bay quarterback situation on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio.

“After three games, I don’t think you necessarily make a change if you believed in a guy before and things are going bad,” Madden said. “There could be, you know, a number of other reasons why he’s doing it. That’s what I would suspect.”

Madden also discussed the effect being benched has on a players’ confidence, and his experience in a situation similar to the Buccaneers’ during his coaching career.
