“I don’t believe people snap,” criminal analyst on Navy Yard shooting

September 17, 2013

We are all too familiar with the immediate aftermath of a mass shooting. First chaos, then identification, followed by an attempt to answer that all-too elusive question–especially when the attacker doesn’t survive–“Why?”

While there are still no clear answers, Criminal Analyst Dale Yeager spoke with The Michael Smerconish Program about attacker Aaron Alexis’ criminal history and other warning signs that he was a danger to himself and others, pointing a finger at those who did nothing to stop him.

“These killings are the result of people not doing their jobs who are professionals that should have been doing their jobs,” Yeager says. No mincing words there. Listen to the clip to hear more about Alexis’ history of violence and who Yeager thinks he was targeting in his attack.
