Barry Switzer tells the best recruiting story you’ll hear

August 8, 2013

Forget texting, emailing and tweeting. Barry Switzer, the legendary former Oklahoma football coach, knew how to recruit.

Switzer told SiriusXM College Sports Nation the story of how he landed eventual Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims. Switzer’s pitch included a referee telling him to get off the phone, a game he didn’t seem to care much about and the funniest halftime speech you could imagine a Division I college football coach delivering: “Keep on doing what you’re doing me! Third quarter!”

Listen to Switzer’s story, and hear from Oklahoma’s current football coach, Bob Stoops, and Louisville’s Heisman Trophy-candidate quarterback Teddy Bridgewater from a pair of stops on the 2013 college football training camp tour.

SiriusXM College Sports Nation is visiting 20 college football training camps in less than three weeks. For scheduling information, visit the SiriusXM College Sports Nation channel page on SiriusXM.com.
