In the USA Today preseason college football poll, Michigan is ranked No. 17. SiriusXM College Sports Nation’s Tim Brando said he has the Wolverines just outside the top 10. But Brady Hoke’s club could find themselves much more firmly on the radar if quarterback Devin Gardner takes the next step this season.
Brando asked Hoke about Gardner’s development, and if he’ll be able to carry over the success he had late last season into 2013.
“Devin started five games, he went 3-2. Played in Columbus, which that environment is a great learning curve for a guy. Played well in the bowl game with South Carolina,” Hoke said. “I think his development, his growth, I think learning a lot from what he did in those five games has really helped shape him, and made him really cognizant of the things he’s got to do a better job with.”
Hoke also spoke with Brando about getting back to camp, and the opportunity to work with his football team this fall.
