Lakers legend James Worthy spoke about a player L.A. fans would probably like to forget, Dwight Howard, Thursday on SiriusXM Off The Dribble.
“I just didn’t feel like he was ready to be The Guy. You know, like LeBron James, even Kevin Durant,” Worthy said. “He’s a great defensive player, you can’t take that away from him. But it’s a lot of pressure when you have to deliver … I don’t think his personality [lent itself] to that.”
Worthy also told Justin Termine and Sam Mitchell that he doesn’t think Howard has peaked yet and that playing in Houston and learning from Kevin McHale, Hakeem Olajuwon and Moses Malone will be great for the seven-footer’s game.
Listen to Off The Dribble weekdays at 12 pm ET on XM channel 208 and Sirius channel 92.
