Los Angeles Dodgers rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig won’t be getting Philadelphia Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon’s vote for the National League All-Star team.
Papelbon was on Power Alley Tuesday and told Mike Ferrin and Jim Duquette that adding Puig to the team would be an “injustice” against veteran players.
“The guy’s got a month in the big leagues — I don’t even think he’s got a month in the big leagues — and you’re comparing him to this and that,” Papelbon said, “and you’re saying he’s going to make the All-Star team? That’s a joke to me.”
Puig, who made his MLB debut on June 3rd, is hitting .436 with seven home runs and 16 RBI through his first 26 professional games.
Ferrin and Duquette also spoke with Papelbon about trade rumors, to which Papelbon gave the pair one of the greatest interview responses you’ll hear.
Listen below for Papelbon’s thoughts and tune in to Power Alley weekdays at 10 am ET on MLB Network Radio, Sirius channel 209 and XM channel 89.
